Topics for the 2007 7-in-7 challenge (thanks Sophia :)

Day One topics:

1. Slaves sing songs that carry across the night air, the lyrics coded directions for escapers along the river. But there is something else present, singing its own song.

2. A spy races through the back streets of Paris, but the dogs sent after him seem impossible to elude.


Day Two topics:

3. People with telepathic ability can be hired to undergo an experience and share the sensations of it with their employer through a mental link. In the shadows, the most desperate telepaths are hired for the most extreme experiences.

4. A teacher is smuggling Jews out of wartime Germany to safety. One day, she is asked to help with a very unusual case…


Day 3 prompts:

5. A future detective is sure he is making breakthroughs regarding his current case during his sleep, but when he wakes, his dream recordings repeatedly show no sign of the images he is certain he saw.

6. Cinderella’s Ball ended long before midnight. All dressed up… what would she do now?


Day 4 prompts:

7. To retain human privacy, robots and recording devices are taught to ‘forget’ everything they have heard or recorded after a period of time. This is used to hide a crime.

8. In a remote mountain town during the frozen Russian winter, a man looks after a small bundle. A baby, people assume at first, but the man has lived alone for a long time. What is he protecting so diligently?


Day 5 prompts:

9. The night ambulance drivers all shake hands with each other in silence every time they return to the little emergency clinic after a call. It is in recognition that they are still alive, that they ventured out and survived to return.

10. A man down on his luck is given an unusual coat at a shelter. He discovers that the coat has bullet holes in it. He can't stop thinking about the holes, and determines to piece together the coat’s history.


Day 6 prompts:

11. A woman in an exclusive private establishment pays to sleep her life away with someone special. But she keeps waking, and every time, the person next to her has changed.

12. A man is being hunted, but finds that when he drinks, he always finds a darkness to hide in.


Day 7 topics:

13. Abandoned towns mark the locations of old mines that have long since been closed down. Now those towns are being used for a new purpose.

14. A woman alone for long periods and perhaps worrying about losing her memory, maps out the people she has met in her life, drawing the connections between them on large sheets of paper found in an attic. As she draws, she finds a type of person that seems to repeat over times and places, so much so that she is convinced that they have been the same person in each instance.
